The Premiership is back... FINALLY!!

It seems like an eternity ago, but really its been just two weeks since the last bit of Premiership action. Obviously we've had the pleasure(!) of an International break, but that doesn't really satisfy anyones unquenchable thirst for top flight action, does it? I don't get it. I used to love watching England. St George's flag around the shoulders, England shirt on, not needing any excuse to burst into a chorus of "its coming home"!! So what happend? I think the whole Nation feels a bit let down by the 'Golden Generation' and that has drained the last drops of patriotic enthusiasm from a lot of people, myself included.

But I guess its not all the players fault, is it? I mean, they didn't give themselves the title 'Golden Generation' did they? It was frivolously awarded by the same 'know it alls' who claimed we were favourites for every International tournament since the birth of the T-Rex - of course, the British media. The people who could hype up an ice cube. The truth is, have England ever been realistic contenders for any International tournament in recent years? Ok, Italia 90, we almost got there... but is it any coincidence that World Cup '90 is widely regarded as the poorest ever? There is a definite feeling of  because we invented the game, we think we have some divine right to glory!

Oh well. Match of the Day's on in 23hours or so. Untill then...
